- The Music Box Village
OPEN HOURS 10am-7pm
Open Hours invite guests to explore the Village and get hands-on with our 'musical architecture.'
During certain hours, musician docents are present in the Village giving guests a more in-depth look at how Music Box instruments work, leading visitors in improvised music-making and talking about the project in more detail. These New Orleans musicians make great Village guides! Thanks to the Positive Vibrations Foundation sponsoring our docent program!

Joe Gelini - Joe Gelini is the epitome of a New Orleans drummer. Blending influences of funk, gospel, Mardi Gras Indian, Brazilian, Afro-Cuban, second-line, rock, jazz, rhythm & blues, Joe creates a deep pocket with impeccable timing. Drawing upon various musical influences allows him to perform multi-layered textures and voices within his drumming. This approach has allowed Joe to become one of the most sought after drummers in a city known for it’s drumming tradition. Just like the cuisine of the Crescent City, Joe’s drumming is a combination of musical flavors brought from across the globe but developed here. Joe began his career while earning his Bachelor of Music Degree at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. Joe currently performs with Cha Wa full time. He has produced Albums for The Wild Magnolias, and Nation Beat. His past drumming gigs include The Wild Magnolias, Big Chief Monk Boudreaux, and Alvin Youngblood Hart.
