Visitor Information

  • The Music Box Village has a limited schedule of Performances, Open Hours, and Special Events each season. Please refer to our calendar page - if a date is not listed, we are unfortunately not open that day.

Open Hours (admission, activities, etc) +

Open Hours or Public Hours are days the Music Box Village opens for the public. Visitors are encouraged to come out and explore our interactive village of musical architecture, enjoy drinks from our craft bar and local food popups in a charming picnic setting.

If a date is not listed on our calendar, we are not open to the public.

Admission Suggested donation: Adults: $15 | Children (5-17) $5

Local to New Orleans? Pay-what-you-wish (see suggested for reference). No visitors are turned away

Things to do (besides explore the Village) Check our calendar to see if Open Hours has any special programming, like a show by one of our 'House Bands', special local musician guides on-site, music-making workshops, community festivals or other special events. These performances and activities are included with admission!

Ticketing for Airlift Performances +

Tickets for Airlift Performances : Tickets should be purchased directly from this website by clicking on the desired event on our calendar. All ticketing is processed through TixR. You must create an account as your tickets will be sent to you electronically.

If you have trouble with our ticketing site, try a different browser or card. If you experience issues with your e-ticket you can contact support@tixr.com or email us at events@neworleansairlift.org.

E-ticket holders will have their ticket scanned at the St Claude gate upon arrival. Be prepared by having your e-ticket available for scanning. All visitors to the Music Box Village must show proof of vaccination or a negative covid test (72 hrs) prior to entry.

Refund Policy +

New Orleans Airlift is a 501c3 nonprofit whose mission is to collaborate to inspire wonder, connect communities, and foster opportunities through the creation of experimental public artworks. Like other giving opportunities, ticket sales support our mission. Additionally, artists and musicians are compensated out of ticket sales for the hard work that goes into the creation and rehearsal of new performances. Unfortunately, we are unable to refund tickets unless extraordinary circumstances.

We will refund tickets for anyone diagnosed with COVID-19 or anyone who feels symptomatic that must stay home to quarantine.

If we do have to reschedule an event due to inclement weather, our policy is to honor all tickets for the rescheduled event. If you can’t use your ticket for the new dates, we suggest you attempt to give or sell your ticket to a friend.

Private Events at the Music Box +

The Music Box Village is a beautiful space to host your next gathering. Whether you want to simply rent the space for a small event or get our help producing your own private party, our outdoor Village makes a great venue for all occasions. Event Rentals

Food and Beverage +

Craft cocktails, and a selection of local beers and sake, natural wine, and more are offered at our Bar. Non-alcoholic selections such as coffee, soda, tea, and water are also available.

Music Box Village works with local vendors to host fresh and tasty pop-ups at Open Hours and Performances. Prices vary. Menus are typically posted to our social media channels in advance.

Rules & Guidelines +

Music Box Village is an interactive art site that is home to 14+ sonic sculptures created by artists & artisans, inventors, and fabricators. These instruments are meant to be played by all, but are not and should not be treated as playground equipment. Please approach these installations with respect and care, and ask questions if you aren't sure how to play something. Our staff and musician docents love to demonstrate! All are welcome at Music Box Village and we aim to make our site feel comfortable and inclusive to guests.

  • Drinking: Visitors who are too inebriated to abide by our site policies will be exited from our site.

  • Smoking: We kindly ask that you smoke in the designated area outside of the Village entrance.

  • Families & Children: A minimum of one adult per three children is required to ensure adequate supervision. Children under 16 are not allowed without a parent or guardian.

  • Pets: Well behaved, leashed pets are allowed at the Music Box during Open Hours only (not during shows) but please be aware of other guests and your pets' comfort!

Parking & Accessibility +

The Music Box Village is an outdoor contemporary art site. At this time, we have gravel walkways. We ask that you plan accordingly, and recommend comfortable footwear.

Parking is very limited and reserved for handicapped, elderly and those people with special needs. We suggest riding a bike or taking a cab if possible. Street parking is available, please be considerate of our neighbors!

There are benches and bleachers available throughout the site. There may be a designated area for blankets. Please refer to the event description for more information about seating options or contact events@neworleansairlift.org to inquire or make a request for an additional accommodation.

There are ADA approved restrooms on-site.

Rain and Inclement Weather +

The Music Box Village is an outdoor space and we advise our visitors to check the weather in advance and come prepared for the occasion.

Occasionally, inclement weather requires us to postpone opening & delay events. Though rare, performances may be canceled due to extreme weather; these are generally rescheduled. If you cannot attend the rescheduled date, we strongly encourage you to transfer your tickets to another party. if the event is canceled altogether, all parties will be automatically refunded. We offer refunds for canceled performances only, not rescheduled performances. Please see the 'refund' section for further details.

Education Programs +

Visit our site with your students or bring us to your school for a special project! Airlift teaching artists offer original arts, music, fabrication, and steam-based learning opportunities for students of all ages and capabilities.
